About

The Maine Baton Twirling Council (MBTC) is a non-profit youth sports organization, dedicated to positive youth development through the sport of baton twirling, in the state of Maine.

The MBTC is governed by the United States Twirling Association (USTA). The USTA serves a national membership of athletes, parents, coaches, studio directors, competition directors, judges and other twirling supporters through a wide range of recreational, educational and competitive programs.

As the nation’s leading sport baton twirling organization, USTA has developed educational programs for recreational and competitive athletes, as well as comprehensive training and certification programs for coaches and judges.

USTA sanctions approximately 200 local, state and regional twirling clinics and competitions each year, giving athletes the opportunity to improve their twirling skills and compete in an atmosphere of fun, friendship and good sportsmanship.

As the official United States representative to the World Baton Twirling Federation (WBTF), USTA participates in the WBTF International Cup competition and holds the U.S. Trials competition to select athletes to compete in the WBTF World Championships.

MBTC hosts several contests each twirling season, concluding with the State competition in May. Check out the scheduled events on the Calendar page.

The MBTC is led by a four-member Board of Directors, elected by council members. Council members consist of professional USTA members and may be coaches, judges, parents, or adult twirlers.

These dedicated volunteers,

  • Provide strategic vision for the growth of MBTC and the sport of baton twirling
